Mail Works is a mail processing company, selling mail preparation services for business mailers throughout northwest Ohio.

The company was formed by Claude Montgomery and Donna Burke, both of whom had previous experience in the industry. Donna was the sales manager for one of the city's other mailing houses and Claude was an employee of The Blade in its direct mail operations.

The clients sought start-up capital for the business and contacted the SBDC for assistance. SBDC staff worked with the clients for approximately 15 hours on strengthening their business plan and compiling the loan package. SBDC staff acted as a liaison to the bank on behalf of the clients and made modifications to the package as necessary. Ultimately, the clients received a loan and line of credit. The clients also took advantage of a number of other SBDC services, including consulting on setting up Quickbooks for their business and participation in the NxLeveL entrepreneurial training program.

The clients' business started up in late 2005 and has steadily gained customers since then. They have received business regionally and have in fact turned down some large offers in order to remain focused on their core offerings.
